Pike man indicted on charge of threatening FBI agent

Gabriel HowellPIKEVILLE, Ky. — A Pike County man who was arrested for trespassing at an FBI agent’s home and threatening him has now been indicted in federal court. Gabriel Howell, 45, of Meta, is charged with threatening to assault the agent with the intent of intimidating him and retaliating against him for performing his duties. Court records indicate Howell had gone to the agent’s home in December, saying he had information about “murder and corruption” to report. Magoffin man indicted on gun charges

Bobby Wireman Jr.SALYERSVILLE, Ky. — A Magoffin County man is facing up to 15 years in prison, after being indicted on federal gun charges. Bobby Wireman, 42, of Salyersville, is charged with possession of stolen firearms and possession of firearms by a person previously committed to a mental institution. The indictment alleges he was found with two rifles and a shotgun back in February, all of which had been reported as stolen. 13 Kentuckians to be added to National Fallen Firefighter Memorial

Kimper man killed in UTV crash

Michael HardinKIMPER, Ky. — For the second time this week, police are investigating a fatal side-by-side crash in Pike County. Kentucky State Police responded to a report of a crash on Upper Johns Creek Road just after 5:30 Sunday morning. The investigation indicates a Polaris UTV left the roadway, traveled over an embankment, and crashed into a tree. Michael Hardin, 34, of Kimper, died at the scene. Kyle Hardin, 38, of Phelps, was taken to the hospital for treatment of injuries. Less than six hours earlier, a UTV crash at McCarr resulted in the death of Michael Sincell, 28, of Freeburn. […]

Floyd woman arrested for kidnapping

Angela HallIVEL, Ky. — A Floyd County woman says she was only trying to get a ride, but she ended up being arrested for kidnapping. Prestonsburg Police were called just before 9 p.m. Tuesday over a report that a woman had forced her way into a vehicle near Highlands ARH and it headed south on U.S. 23.
